Just returned from the annual pilgrimage to New York for Book Expo America, or BEA as it’s known to those in the publishing industry. There booksellers, librarians, publishers, editors, agents and authors meet to network, chat, get free books and learn the latest developments in publishing around the globe.

I sent more than 60 pounds of books and ARCs (advanced reader copies) back to my house! I love to read but I can’t imagine having the time to read every single book I just had to have when faced with a pile of free copies in my favorite publishers’ booths. And this is even after my husband built me three new bookshelves for my birthday.

Yet read I will, because one thing everyone in publishing has in common is a love of books. It’s at the core of why each of us is in the book business. So I plan on reading a few previews of what’s to come this fall as well as some books that have just hit the store shelves.
